It is has been constituted to supervise and evaluate all aspects of the animal care and use<br \/>\nprogram in the institution under Rule 5(a) of the breeding and Experiment on Animals (Control<br \/>\nand Supervision) rules 1998.<br \/>\nObjectives<br \/>\nIAEC is responsible for a quality and consistent ethical review mechanism for pharmaceutical<br \/>\nresearch in animal is put in place for all proposals dealt by the Committee. IAEC is also<br \/>\nresponsible for reviewing Form-B, Form-C and Form-D, inspecting animal facilities and uphold<br \/>\n3R\u2019s principles of (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) ensuring adherance to CPCSEA<br \/>\nguidelines.<br \/>\nIAEC has been designed to secure the following objectives:<br \/>\n(a) Every experiment shall be performed by or under the supervision of a person duly qualified and<br \/>\nunder the responsibility of the person performing the experiment;<br \/>\n(b) That experiments are performed with due care and humanity.<br \/>\n(c) That animals who, in the course of experiments under the influence of anaesthetics, are so<br \/>\ninjured that their recovery would involve serious suffering, are ordinarily medically allowed to<br \/>\ndeath while still under influence of anaesthetic;<br \/>\n(d) That experiments on animals are avoided wherever it is possible to do so.<br \/>\n(e) That experiments on larger animals are avoided when it is possible to achieve the same results<br \/>\nby experiments on small laboratory animals like guinea-pigs, rabbits,mice, rats etc;<br \/>\n(f) That, as far as possible, experiments are not performed merely for the purpose of acquiring<br \/>\nmanual skill;<br \/>\n(g) That animals intended for the performance of experiments are properly looked after before,<br \/>\nduring and after experiments;<br \/>\n(h) That suitable records are maintained with respect to experiments performed on animalsFunctions<br \/>\n1. Review and approve all types of protocols for research involving small animal<br \/>\nexperimentation before the start of the study.<br \/>\n2. Monitoring ethical and methodical handling of animals during and after experiments, so<br \/>\nthat they have less suffering.<br \/>\n3. Ensure visit to animal house facility and laboratory where the experiments are conducted<br \/>\nand obtain periodic reports on research development and shall.<br \/>\n4. Ensure that all personnel involved in animal care and use are appropriately qualified to<br \/>\nperform their duties and conduct proposed activities.<br \/>\n5.
